  • Roofing: Demonstrate deep knowledge of roof inspections focusing on system performance, safety concerns, and conformity with good construction practice by successfully completing the Roofing Inspection module (3 credits).

  • Structure & Exterior: Exhibit a clear comprehension of the structural components of a residential dwelling (3.5 credits). Master the ability to inspect all aspects of a dwelling's exterior (2 credits).

II. Mechanical and Systems Expertise

  • Heating and Cooling: Inspect installed heating equipment and identify the energy source, type, material, condition, and related safety concerns (Heating Inspection 1 and 2, totaling 6 credits). Identify common problems related to cooling and heat pump systems through the Air Conditioning & Heat Pumps Inspection module (2 credits).

  • Plumbing and Electrical: Demonstrate a thorough awareness of interior water supply and distribution systems and complete rigorous technical training in Plumbing Inspection (4 credits) and Electrical Inspection (3 credits).

  • Interior & Insulation: Evaluate interior elements and insulation efficiency through the dedicated Interior & Insulation Inspection module (2.5 credits).

III. Professional and Business Skills

  • Business Operations: Complete the Building Your Home Inspection Business course (3 credits) to ensure compliance with applicable laws, contracts, and business practices.

  • Professional Practice: Learn to handle client disputes and arrive at effective resolutions through the Communication & Professional Practice module (2 credits).

To be eligible for the Home Inspection certificate program, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Education: Possess a Grade 12 diploma or equivalent, or qualify for Mature Student Status.

  • Language Proficiency: Have a good command of the English language and demonstrate the ability to follow detailed instructions.
